Precision machining

Pillen Group is a specialist in the field of precision machining. Various machining operations are carried out internally on state-of-the-art air-conditioned machinery: CNC milling, CNC turning, but we also do assemblies. The extensive competences in our machine parks make it easier for you to have everything carried out by one partner.

Thanks to our own engineering, prototyping and project management, you can rely on us from idea to end product in the machining supply. Pillen has various 24/7 processing centers and with that we can also easily accommodate your increasing demand for larger series. You can already contact us at the time of the idea.

Precision machining with our own machinery

Below is a summary of the different types of precision machining that we carry out in our own machine park. Click on the links to read more about the operations:

Machining is a special metalworking process that can consist of: turning, milling, planing, chiseling, boring, sawing, broaching, and grinding.

With this, the use of the right machines, materials, and tools is of importance. Diverse environmental factors can be of great influence on the final product.

During machining, much energy is put on the tools which can lead to the tools breaking and it becoming unusable. What are the machining factors which you should pay attention to?

5 important machining factors

1. Which tools do you use?
2. Which materials need to be worked on?
3. Which cutting speed, supply, and cutting depth do you use?
4. What machining depth do you have?
5. What clamping techniques do you use?

Tools

In the supply of metalworking, Pillen Sheet Metal constantly deals with more restricting tolerances. Besides having good CNC-Turning and CNC-Machining machines it is also necessary to have the right tools. The right tools exclude clearance / variation from every worked product so that all manufactured products are virtually identical. This makes it a stable process.

Materials

Not only the purchasing price of the to-be-machines material but also the degree of machinability has to do with the eventual price of the product (eventual duration of cycle times and the to-be-used tools vs. wear). Often, the choice of the materials has been made during the engineering trajectory, but it is also very important to possess the complete knowledge of the material and working characteristics before starting with the machining process.

Proportions

Regardless of what work is being carried out, you will always face the three most important factors of cutting speed, supplying speed, and cutting depth. These machining parameters influence the machining process and the eventual machining width. It is important to align these ratios to avoid tension in the workpiece. With tension, we mean the force which is released on the object which is worked on. Tension can result in a deviant dimension of the workpiece.

Machining width

The machining width which results from the pressure on the tools is beside the configured pressure per turn or cut often influenced by the cutting speed, supply, and cutting depth.

Clamping techniques

To work a workpiece, it needs to be clamped for it to be as stable as possible. For turning work, mandrels / collets are mainly used and for machining work, machine vices / clamp straps are used. In the market, various clamping solutions can be acquired. These can be standard clamping molds or custom-made clamping molds which are suited for one specific product or even more products.
