From first idea to a product that keeps evolving
The story of Sunshower began about 25 years ago in a student room at TU Delft. There, Merijn and Oscar worked on an innovative idea: a tanning device integrated into the shower.

What started as a technical experiment has grown into a mature product line that contributes to relaxation, energy, and daily well-being seamlessly integrated into the bathroom. Early in this development, Pillen Group became involved to help bridge the gap from design to manufacturable and scalable solutions.
Variation in applications, one constant in quality
Today, Sunshower consists of a broad range of products, each with its own specifications and applications. For Pillen, this means producing a diverse set of components that together form the foundation of these different variants.
These include reflectors, glass frames, structural sheet metal parts, and components that are both technically and visually critical to the final product. Each individual part must be flawless on its own, while also functioning perfectly within the complete system.
This variety demands flexibility in production without compromising on quality.
High-quality materials require control in every detail
The components are manufactured from materials such as stainless steel, mirror-finish sheet metal, and Sendzimir galvanized steel each with its own processing challenges.
Mirror-finish material in particular, used in reflectors, requires extreme precision. The coating must remain fully intact, reflection must not be disturbed, and even during handling and transport, damage must be avoided. Glass frames and visible components demand high standards in dimensional accuracy and finishing, while structural parts require stability and repeatability.
To achieve this, Pillen operates a modern machine park capable of processing these high-end materials, including:

- Bodor P3 12kW laser cutting centers
- Haeger 824WT-4 OneTouch insertion machines
- Timesavers 32 Series 1100 WRB deburring machine
The combination of these technologies ensures that every component from reflector to frame meets the same high quality standards.
Open collaboration requires commitment at every level
The collaboration between Sunshower and Pillen goes beyond production alone. There is active involvement and forward-thinking even before questions are formally asked.

At least as important is delivery reliability. Components must be available at the right time to ensure smooth assembly processes. Through tight planning, active inventory management, and insight into material usage, Pillen ensures continuity throughout the supply chain.

For the assembly of the final products, Sunshower collaborates with Confed a choice rooted in the company’s origins and vision, and one that is also familiar to Pillen.
Although Pillen could have fulfilled this role, a deliberate decision was made for this socially responsible approach. It underlines the character of Sunshower and aligns with a broader vision of well-being — not only for the end user, but also in the way products are created.
