CNC bending/setting

Pillen is a specialist in bending/setting (also known as setting) of metal plates into a high-quality product. By bending efficiently and thoughtfully, the number of welded joints can be reduced, resulting in an efficient and visually attractive product. If welded connections have to be made, we have various possibilities and options to make a nice welded connection by means of MIG/MAG TIG and Laser welding.

We have various CNC-controlled press brakes to enable the bending of sheet material, which may or may not be equipped with cobots to efficiently bend serial products.

There are various products that we manufacture from sheet material. Examples of this are complex high-quality casings, interiors and assemblies that contain accurate dimensions and are visually intact.

What is edging/setting?

CNC bending or setting is the deformation of a metal plate. The plate is bent to a desired angle.

How does CNC bending/setting work?

With CNC bending, our press brake machine clamps the sheet material between two molds that are compressed (pressed). The press goes from top to bottom and during this process the operation, in this case a bend, is put into the material. Different molds are available per press brake to bend various edges in the sheet metal material. During CNC bending, a plate is clamped on one side. The other movable part is bent over.

When to use CNC bending/setting?

  • Welding operations are often not necessary by applying bending
  • It gives an extra reinforcement to the sheet metal
  • Great accuracy
  • Due to the use of the correct side blades for specific material, no damage is caused, so no finishing is required.
