Sustainable energy system – Cooll

From prototype to production for a sustainable energy system collaboration with Cooll
A promising project in energy transition. Within the Pillen Group, we are proud of the long-term collaborations we enter into with innovative partners. A great example is our collaboration with Cooll, a technology company focused on the market launch of their innovative Thermally Driven Heat Pump (TDHP).

TDHP System Cooll Thermally Heat Pump Pillen Group Min

Cooll has developed a promising solution for sustainable heating based on thermal drive, a technology developed entirely in-house. Now that the product is ready for series production, Cooll sought a manufacturing partner with experience in precision and scalable system assembly. And that’s how they ended up with Pillen Group.

How the collaboration came about

Initial contacts with Cooll came about through ManGo Product Design, a well-known player in industrial design and engineering, whom we met a few years ago at the Hannover Messe. Pillen Group was recommended as a suitable partner for both the first production run and future scale-up.
A mutual advantage: we are both located in the eastern Netherlands (Twente/Achterhoek), which facilitates quick and efficient cooperation and we speak virtually the same “language”.

Why Cooll chose Pillen Group

Cooll had considered several parties. Yet the choice fell on us. Why?
  • Process optimisation: Our expertise in analysing and improving assembly processes gave confidence that we could not only build the product, but also speed up and simplify the process.
  • Quality assurance: Quality is paramount to us, and this was evident in the discussions and approach.
  • Scalability: Cooll is aiming to grow from 200 to thousands of units. We can go along with that, with both capacity and space.
  • Cooperation & trust: During the introductory meeting, it became clear that we are not only an executing party, but also a partner who thinks along with us. This was much appreciated.

What we have done so far

Our role in this project started with a technical assessment and production preparation of the TDHP system. This included:

  • Analysing the existing design for manufacturability
  • Preparing the first series production of 200 units
  • Addressing tooling, quality and logistics setup

The first series units are expected to be assembled at Pillen in autumn 2025.

A look to the future

We are only at the beginning of a promising journey. Together with Cooll and ManGo, we are working towards a scalable, efficient and future-proof production line. A cooperation where technical depth, mutual trust and regional anchoring come together.
We look forward to the next steps with Cooll and are ready to take their innovative technology to market together.
